This blog is a starting point.

As an educator in mathematics, I find students too focused on memorizing processes and formulas. All those processes and formulas came about from context. This blog is written to explain such context to the reader in an attempt to bridge the connection of our mathematical computations and the contextual information.

I will begin in Algebra, which is notoriously "the" class where we lose students due to the lack of context, and I plan to post following courses through Calculus I content. If things are going well, I'll continue into more advanced mathematical concepts. I recognize that most people do not enjoy learning through reading with today's technology capabilities; my goal with this blog is to build a foundation that I can use to create videos and additional content as I have the time. This isn't part of my job; it doesn't bring me income. As a passion project, it will have delays periodically, but I tend to finish my projects, so stay tuned!

Each post starts with a process or formula and an analysis and deconstruction of why it exists, where it comes from, and/or how to remember it without pure memorization. I hope my approach is helpful and makes mathematics seem more useful than your grade school experience.

Best,
